51% of Arsenal Fans confident in Martinez

by SimonSEEZ

As Arsenal and its fans come to grips with the fallout of the Bernd Leno injury, one player who is likely to benefit from this period is Emi Martinez, the Arsenal second choice goalkeeper. The Argentine has been at Arsenal since 2012 and has been unable to win the first team place with loans to Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United, Wolverhampton, Getafe and a very successful loan spell at Reading last season.

Emi Martinez has played 12 times for Arsenal already this season, getting games mostly in the FA Cup and Mikel Arteta is hopeful this will prove useful as he relies on the 6ft 5′ goalkeeper for the rest of the season.

“What I know about Emi is the way he prepares himself, how patient he’s been and how much he’s been waiting for the opportunity, So when you do that, you expect when the opportunity comes to perform and put everything that you done in the past into the next few games to help the team and make yourself proud that it was the right decision for him to stay, work and behave the way he has done over the years at the club.

We asked Arsenal fans on our Twitter page how confident they were in the goalies’ abilities and 51% stated they were fairly confident which is a good percentage for a keeper who many haven’t seen for extended periods in an Arsenal shirt

This comes as Arsenal reported first-choice goalkeeper Bernd Leno is expected to be out for only 4 weeks despite initial fears of an ACL tear following an incident with Brighton forward Maupay in the teams loss away to Brighton last week.  Arsenal play Southampton today as they push to make it into Europe via the league.

We wish the team and Emi Martinez the very best
