Arsenal begin Europa League campaign with boring win

by Koolkola

The excitement of watching our new signing Thomas Partey on his full debut was evident among the fans on social media.

However, what we got was a boring win, the first half was especially poor to watch.

Cedric, Kolasinac, El Neny, Nketiah, Lacazette all got back into the starting xi for this one. With Thomas Partey making his full debut.

Asides a tame Luiz header and some weak shots from Rapid Vienna for Leno to play with. There was really nothing of note that happened in the first half.

The second half had all the drama though, with Leno being the lead actor. Our goalkeeper fumbled a pass to Partey in our box, and Rapid Vienna pounced on it to take the lead.

Leno almost gifted Rapid Vienna a second with another error, but his desperate save spared his blushes.

Mikel Arteta reacted after this, and sent on Aubameyang and Bellerin in place of Eddie and Cedric.

We raised our game after that and got the equalizer.

David Luiz rose well to head home a sweet Pepe cross from a freekick.

We soon took the lead few minutes later, as El Neny released Bellerin with a defence splitting pass. Hector Bellerin laid it on a plate for Auba to tap in.

New boy Thomas Partey was particularly impressive with his display, as he marshalled the midfield brilliantly.
