Arsenal Left With Only Two Center-Backs for Brighton Trip – Mari Out

by SimonSEEZ

With Arsenal, it never rains, it pours. The Gunners were the first team to have their game suspended after Mikel Arteta the Arsenal boss became the first publicly reported case of the Coronavirus in the English Premier League which meant the team had to play on the opening day of the league restart.

A game with saw the Gunners lose two its key players, Granit Xhaka and Pablo Mari to injuries within the first twenty-nine munites of a game they ended up losing 3-0. Not helped by a calamitous outing by substitute David Luiz who took ownership of his errors in his post-match statements

David Ornstein of The Athletic is now reporting that Pablo Mari has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury. This implies Arsenal will be without four of their six centre-backs for the away game to Brighton on Saturday.  David Luiz suspension coupled with Calum Chambers and Sokratis injuries leaves only Rob Holding and Mustafi as options to play in that role.

Given the failure of Cedric Soares to recover from his injury since his signing in January, Arsenal currently faces the risk of not seeing either of Pablo Mari and Cedric play this season and will have to make a decision on converting their loan deals. to permanent signing or letting the pair leave.

“What I can tell you, is that the situation from Arsenal’s point of view will be resolved this week.“And it’s not just Luiz’s situation, I think there are several issues within the whole structure that will get resolved. Kia on David Luiz’ conrtract situation

With issues surrounding David Luiz’s contract, the executive department of Arsenal have their hands full with contract negotiations this summer.  Bukayo Saka, who also fared in the defence this season is also yet to sign a contract extension with the club.

We wish the Pablo Mari the best with his recovery process.
