Arsenal have quit our membership of the European Club Association and Vinai Venkatesham has stepped down from his position on the ECA board.
Elected on the 8th of March, Vinai stepped down from his role in the ECA after only 43 days. This is following the announcement of the club as one of the 12 clubs participating in the newly formed Super League.
The 12 clubs involved announced their participation in a statement released almost at the same time by the respective clubs.
The club shared the details of the project in a joint statement which the Gunners have shared on the club website.
The news it drew a furious response from each country’s respective football authorities. UEFA have also threatened sanctions on the clubs involved.
