Despite Gabi’s injury woes, Mikel Arteta expects young forward Gabi Martinelli to do big things.
He started against on Southampton on Saturday, and lasted 66 minutes before Arteta replaced him as the team struggled to get into the game.
Speaking about the substitution, Mikel Arteta said:
“He was [physically] fine, it was a tactical decision [to sub him] and he is fine,” Arteta said afterwards.
“He has missed a few training sessions with the last injury, but I expect big things from Gabi.
“He has been really helpful since he joined again after such a long period, so I am positive about it.”
We return to the Saint Mary’s for our second fixture against Southampton in four days and Gabi Martinelli could start as captain Aubameyang is said to be handling a personal issue.
“I don’t have enough information to see how things are evolving and hopefully things will go in the right direction,” said the boss about the situation.
We have lost twice to Southampton this season, one in the PL and the other is the recent FA cup defeat.
We hope we become third time lucky against the Saints.
