Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is currently in quarantine after he left the country to visit his ill mother.
The striker is back in London but despite testing negative for Covid-19, he’s had to self-isolate and missed the Manchester United game.
Speaking on Auba’s return, Mikel Arteta said:
“We have to follow the rules and the protocols right now and the protocols say he cannot be involved at the moment,” Arteta said after Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United.
“He had a family issue he had to attend to and these are the consequences to that.”
Asked when the player might return, Arteta, said: “I don’t know. We are working with the Premier League and government about it. He’s been looking after his family and now he’s in quarantine.”
He added: “We have to follow the rules and the protocols right now. And the protocols say that he cannot be involved at the moment. We have to respect that and the doctor is managing the situation currently.”
