Arsenal won the final game in our Europa League group, making it six wins out of six. The team scored four goals away at Dundalk, conceding two.
Folarin Balogun, scorer of the fourth goal, has been a as subject of transfer speculations for a while. However, after the match, Mikel Arteta has once again reiterated that the club wants to keep the young striker.
The young gunner almost left in the summer after a lengthy contract talk with the club. But he has since been slowly integrated into the first team.
He has three substitute appearances in the Europa League already with two goals; the latest one was yesterday in our 4-2 win against Dundalk in Dublin.
Mikel Arteta waa asked if there is any progress in contract negotiation with the striker after the match.
He said: “We are having some discussions with the player,” he said. “He knows we want to retain him at the club.
“We know the length of his contract at the moment is an issue but we are trying to resolve it in the best possible way.
“We want him to stay and he told me he wants to stay at the club so hopefully we can reach an agreement and extend his contract.”
On the youngster’s performance this evening, he added: “Yes, he’s done really well. Every minute he’s been on the field, he’s been superb. Today he looked a threat again, he scored a goal, he set up another one and he looked really lively and mature.”
