Arsenal visited Frankfurt to kick-start thus season’s Europa League campaign. The team put in a fine display and won the match 3-0.
However, the star of the show wasn’t any of the usual suspects, but it was the youngster Bukayo Saka. The Hale End product turned 18 two weeks ago, and had only his 5th senior appearance in the win over Frankfurt.
He marked his first senior appearance of the season with a beautifully taken goal, and two assists to set up Joe Willock and Aubameyang.
Speaking after the game, he spoke about the goal and how it felt to be the star of the night.
“It’s a very proud moment and I’m just so happy. It’s a dream come true, since I was as a kid I’ve always dreamed of scoring for Arsenal’s first team, so now I’ve done that and I just want to do it more and get that feeling many more times”
The team came into this game on the back of a disappointing 2-2 draw away at Watford. When asked about how this affected the team’s mentality going into the game, he said: “We spoke about it in the changing room after the game as well so it was good to get the win and just get that out of the way and now move on to Sunday”
The atmosphere was also electric, and the home fans tried their best to intimidate the Gunners. On the atmosphere, he said: “We spoke about it before the game. Their fans get behind them a lot and the fans on that end were just making noise the whole way, the whole game long. That’s big support for them, but we said that we just have to play with our confidence, play our game, stick to our game plan and everything will be fine. We don’t have to let it affect us”
In what seems like a battle for the left wing slot in the team between the young Gunners, fans are of the opinion that Saka now leads the race after that performance from last night.
If you were Unai Emery, would you start him against Aston Villa?
