The Athletic via its correspondent is reporting that Arsenal is likely to lose youth talent Folarin Balogun on a free next window as the prolific 18-year-old has failed to reach an agreement with the club. In realization of his talent, the club in January rejected a £5 million offer from Brentford for during the January window as contract negotiations were ongoing. Folarin and his representatives, however, seem to think his future lies outside the emirates with the striker failing to feature in any first-team action thus far.

Folarin describes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as his idol states his style of play as

“I am the sort of striker that likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender and make runs behind them, similar to the way that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang plays.

The young striker has some really amazing statistics from his time at youth level and it is no surprise he considers himself good enough to play elsewhere

His prolific 2018/2019 season led the club to write this about him

The pacey forward started 19 fixtures in our under-18s title-winning season, scoring an incredible 25 goals. This tally includes two hat-tricks and a four-goal haul, meaning Folarin averaged a goal every 62 minutes. No other 17-year-old scored more in English youth football.

First team appearances are hard to come by but given the progression of Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock and even to an extent Matteo Guendouzi, Arsenal has shown they are willing to trust their academy and give chances to young players. It is disappointing that an agreement has not been reached with Folarin to extend his stay at Arsenal which might see him follow the path of others like Serge Gnabry, Donyell Malen, Ismael Bennacer and Jeff Reine-Adelaide. At this point, the club is yet to also seal a deal with Bukayo Saka and the latest comments from Mikel Arteta tend towards a positive outcome

“I am very positive that everything is going to be done with Bukayo very shortly,” the manager said. “The communications between the club, agents and the family has been going on for months and is very fluent. The player and family knows how much trust I have in him. He is just showing that every week and his consistency level is getting better and better.
