In a few weeks, the focus of all football clubs will turn to the transfer window, with club executives and coaches seeking to refresh their football clubs with the talent required to meet objectives for the next season. Arsenal under Mikel Arteta have looked a revolutionize the character and technical ability of the squad. Given the current manager’s penchant for playing more than one formation in a game, the effectiveness of his approach heavily relies on players being able to interpret the messages he passes across.
On the back of three consecutive wins, Mikel Arteta speaking to the media in preparation for the game against Wolves on Saturday stated he had clarity as to the technical requirements of players needed at Arsenal to implement his ideas. Quizzed on what he needs to strengthen his side, the Head Coach stated;
I’m very clear. I have a very clear plan and the specificity of the players, the positions and squad balance that we need to compete with the rest of the top teams in the country.
He, however, declined to speak on players that he would be interested in bringing to Arsenal when asked specifically on rumours linking Athletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey to the club. Partey boasts a release clause of £45million,
I cannot talk about being interested in any players that are playing in any team that is not ours, sorry.
Arsenal technical director had already spoken on how specific Mikel Arteta was with his requirements. A statement made when the club made permanent loan signing of Pablo Mari
Edu Gaspar on Pablo Mari: “Since Mikel arrived here he was asking for a central defender who was left-footed. We were really pleased with Pablo – his behaviour, the way he is training, his mentality and his quality.”

Pablo Mari is currently injured and that extended lay-off seems to have affected the club’s plans for how it intends to handle the plethora of defenders currently at the club. Arteta stated
We will see because Pablo won’t be available to start the season and Callum won’t be available to start the season. We have nine games left until the end of the season, a lot of things can happen. William has had a lot of issues this season with injuries as well so he has not been a stable player in that sense so let’s wait and see. At the moment we’re going to have options and we will consider the situation with what is best to do in the future but we don’t have much stability at the moment.
It is our hope Arteta gets what he needs to craft the team in a manner that can bring success to Arsenal
