The club has announced the arrival of Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid. The Norwegian arrives on a six month loan which will last till the end of the season.
Fans have been crying out for a playmaker and despite the impressive performances of Emile Smith Rowe, the burden seems be too much for him alone to handle. Odegaard is an attacking midfielder and he will bring some added dynamism to the side.
Norwegian international Martin Odegaard is joining us from Real Madrid on loan for the remainder of the season.
Mikel Arteta pointed out the quality he will bring in his welcome statement.
Mikel Arteta said: “It’s great that we’ve secured Martin to come to us until the end of the season. Martin is of course a player that we all know very well and although still young, he has been playing at the top level for a while. Martin will provide us with quality offensive options and we’re all excited to be integrating him into our plans between now and May.”
Technical director Edu on the signing:
“We are delighted to welcome Martin to the club until the end of the season. I would like to thank everyone at Real Madrid and Martin’s representatives for their collaboration in making this loan move happen. Martin is an exceptional talent and we are strengthening our squad by introducing an exciting offensive player to the club for the remaining months of this season.”
Odegaard expressed his love for the club’s style and highlighted the PL’s popularity in his home country.
Odegaard: “In Norway, the Premier League is really big. We always watched all the games. It’s always been a dream to play in the Premier League & I always liked the way Arsenal played. So it’s a dream come true in many ways. Fabregas, for me, was one of my idols when I grew up.”
Odegaard on Arteta: “I spoke to him before coming here. That was very important for me. He seems like a top manager and I liked his ideas, the way he sees football and also the way he is. He gave me a great feeling and that was important for me to come here. He was crucial.”
Martin will wear the number 11 shirt.
We welcome him to the Arsenal and wish him the best of luck.
