The boss wanted a performance that showed real hunger for success and he got exactly that in our Carabao cup win against Leicester City.
The boss asked the players for a display of dominance and he was happy as we secured our place in the next round after a Christian Fuchs own goal and Eddie Nketiah’s strike.
“I am really pleased with the performance, as well as the mindset and the approach that the players had towards the game,” Arteta told Arsenal.com.
“Sometimes they tend to relax in this competition, but the senior players took it really seriously and the young boys, you saw how they played.
“I think we controlled large periods of the game and we were very efficient with our high press. I think we had some really good moments with the ball that we could have scored more goals and created more openings, so overall I’m really happy with the performance.
“When you win, you have to keep trying to win because things change really quickly. That’s what we demand from the players, to keep competing in every game and to show desire to win every game. That’s what they did tonight again.”
We play Liverpool/Lincoln in the next round of the Carabao Cup. However, our next fixture is on Monday against Liverpool.
