Arsenal are reportedly still in talks with Roma on the swap deal between Henrik Mkhitaryan and Justin Kluivert. Apparently, the suspension of Gianluca Petrachi from the role of sports director seems not to have affected transfer negotiations from the perspectives of the Rome based club as Giallorossi leadership who, through Franco Baldini and Guido Fienga continue to work.
From Arsenal’s perspective, the deal seems to be advanced by super-agent Mino Raiola who believes a reduction of valuation of Henrik Mkhitaryan will be enough to see the deal through. Raiola believes a reduction in the valuation of 2 million Euros should be enough to see the deal go through. Roma value Justin Kluivert at around 40million Euros and Arsenal are reportedly offering Henrik Mkhitaryan and 13 million Euros to see the deal go through.
Roma, currently sit fifth in the Serie A table ahead and recently announced debts of €278.5million. Selling Justin seems to be a part of their measures to stem the financial tide the club is currently trying to weather. Arsenal on the other have financial worries of their own. Responding to issues around the David Luiz transfer, Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta stated
“Well we cannot forget the financial situation, the way that COVID-19 has hit every club and the economy in general – it’s going to have an impact, What the club is doing at the moment is assessing the situation and trying to clarify a lot of uncertainties that we have in the future. We have to make big decisions but time-wise it’s difficult to fit them in our needs”
Henrik Mkhitaryan is currently one of Arsenal’s highest earners, earning within the region of 200,000 pounds a week. An amount Arsenal will be looking to take off their books in the coming season. This season Justin Kluivert has played 27 games, scoring 7 goals and bagging two assists. a fair return for the young player who also had his season hampered by injury.
