Kieran Tierney is in the squad for tonight’s Europa League round of 32 clash against Benfica in Rome.
The Scottish defender has only made three appearances in 2021 due injury issues but he appears to be on his way to full fitness.
The decision on if he is fit enough to start is yet to be made. Cedric has covered that position for the past couple of weeks.
Thomas Partey expectedly misses out on this one after sustaining a hamstring injury in the defeat to Aston Villa. He is projected to return to training next week.
“Thomas didn’t travel, he’s not there yet. He’s still training individually,” confirmed Arteta on Wednesday evening.
“Kieran has had one session with us and is part of the squad.”
After images of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang getting a tattoo made it to social media, there were questions on if he broke Covid-19 protocols to get a tattoo, which meant he’d need to isolate. Mikel Arteta has however confirmed that our captain is in the Italian capital for the match.
Asked whether the striker has broken any rules and if action will be taken, the boss replied:
“No, whatever we do with our players, we keep it internal.”
He added: “If any player does anything that is not in the regulation then the club acts immediately but always privately as well.”
