Willock admits things need to change quickly, as Arteta echoes same thoughts

This has been our poorest start to a league campaign in 40 years. We are struggling in front of goal and have lost the defensive solidity we had during the first few games of the season.

Joe Willock featured in our loss to Wolves and he admits that things need to change quickly.

“We’re not playing well enough as a team at the moment,” he said after last night’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves.

“It was very disappointing,” he added. “You never want to lose at the Emirates or in any game but I feel like in the first half it wasn’t good enough.

“We’re not playing well enough as a team at the moment and we need to stick together and bounce back from this very quickly.

“I don’t think it’s clicking enough and there’s not enough fluidity in the team.

“We need to sort this out as quickly as possible to fight for the position we want to fight for.”

Willock is correct as we currently sit 14th on the league table. We have lost three out of four home matches, as we head into a busy December.

This season was meant to be the season we closed the gap on the big teams, but it hasn’t looked that way.

Mikel Arteta knows how bad the situation is.

“It’s very worrying,” he told his post-game press conference. “As you can imagine, you expect other things to happen.

“We’ve lost games in many different ways but in the end, we’ve lost them and that is our reality.

“After a few more games the table will tell you where you are and how much you deserve and clearly, we have to improve. It’s nowhere near good enough for this football club and we have to change things dramatically.”

We play Tottenham in our next PL fixture. We head into the NLD as underdogs against the high flying Spuds side lead by Jose Mourinho. We hope the derby sparks the turnaround we need.
