Xhaka gets captain armband

by Koolkola

Granit Xhaka has been named as the new captain for his national team side. Our midfield combatant was named Switzerland captain after former Gunner Stephen Lichtsteiner announced his retirement from international football.

Our midfielder will lead the national team as permanent captain for the first time on Thursday against Ukraine.

He has come a long way and progressed under Mikel Arteta. He was stripped off captaincy by Unai Emery after a high profile altercation with the fans against Crystal Palace at the Emirates.

Speaking on being appointed captain, he said:

“It’s a real pleasure to meet again with the national team after a ten-month break. “As the new captain, I am extremely proud to be able to play for my country, and moreover to represent it in the captain’s role. It’s a dream come true. “We are happy to be able to count on your support and we promise we will do everything to bring you joy in the upcoming campaign and also in the future.”

Granit Xhaka has re-established himself as a favorite among the fans after he helped us to a FA cup trophy and community shield triumph this season.

It is so good to see everything going greatly for Granit Xhaka once again.
